This print reflects God’s Vision for Jordan Creek Church. It is
based on the
Luke 5:1-11 story where the disciples had been fishing all
night but caught no fish. Jesus calls out to them to see how the
fishing has gone. They reply that they were not able to take a
single fish. Jesus then instructs them to fish from the other side
of the boat. The disciples follow Jesus direction and they begin to
catch fish and fill their boats to overflowing.
The disciples had tried it all without success…through the night
into the day. But when they followed Jesus’ command, it all
changed…these “fishing disciples” were bountifully rewarded with a
Great Catch. Jesus instructs them that it is not just where they
fish, but that they listen to his voice and follow his commands…and
when they do it is a miracle what they can accomplish.
This “Great Catch” reminds us that Jordan Creek Church has been
placed in a wonderful area of growth. The “waters” are filled with
people…people who know Christ and others who are not yet believers.
Gods has placed Jordan Creek Church specifically here to reach out
and to be the faithful growing Church… faithful to Jesus’ call to
become “fishers of all persons” in this wonderful area of expansion
and growth. Listening to God’s voice and becoming active as his
disciples, we reach out and invite and bring all persons – both
believers and especially non–believers into the experience of the
faith, love and fellowship that is found here in the people and
ministry of Jordan Creek Church.
Each Sunday we invite persons to join us at Jordan Creek Church. We
invite persons to write themselves into the Jordan Creek story. “It
is not by accident that you come to this place each Sunday…it is
because we believe that God has called you to this place for a
purpose and reason. We believe that God brings persons here not only
to receive and find a church home and purpose for living, but that
persons come here to use their talents and gifts and help to fulfill
the purpose and ministry of Jordan Creek Church as we reach out to
the community and the world…the World is our Parish!”
