Pastor
Phil Dicks brings to Jordan Creek Church his passion for
discipleship ministries, preaching, church leadership and visioning
for God and growth. Pastor Phil has led the Iowa Conference of the
United Methodist Church in Discipleship and Spiritual Formation
ministries - making and growing as disciples. He enjoys speaking and
consulting on creative, dynamic growth in the church.He has
served in congregations and church in Minburn, Downtown Des
Moines-First UMC, Davenport-Grace UMC, Sioux City-Trimble UMC and as
the executive director of Lake Okoboji UM Camp and Conference
Center. Prior to returning to Iowa, Pastor Phil was the Chaplain at
the YMCA of the Rockies in Colorado. He attended Drake University
and Asbury College in Kentucky before receiving his Masters of
Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and ordination in the
United Methodist Church. Since then, he has done post graduate work
at Illif Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado, Candler School of
Theology-Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and St. Paul School of
Theology in Kansas City.
Phil enjoys listening to people tell their stories, laughing,
traveling around the world, sailing and teaching fly fishing - he's
the embodiment of Norman Maclean's classic - River Runs Through It -
"A thin line between religion and fly fishing." He enjoys the many
and diverse adventures and discoveries of his family.
